We Honor Veterans

null

America’s Veterans have done everything asked of them in their mission to serve our country and we believe it is never too late to give them a hero’s welcome home. Now it is time that we step up, acquire the necessary skills and fulfill our mission to serve these men and women with the dignity they deserve.

1 in every 4 dying Americans is a Veteran.

Each Veteran has a unique life story and a unique set of needs. We Honor Veterans focus on recognizing these unique needs through respectful inquiry, compassionate listening, and grateful acknowledgment. Training through the We Honor Veterans Program is teaching our staff to learn how to accompany and guide America’s Veterans and their families through their life stories toward a more peaceful ending.

In addition to recognizing our Veteran clients, Good Shepherd Homecare & Hospice now offers Vet-to-Vet Volunteers which allows for trained Veteran Volunteers to recognize and spend time with our Veteran clients.

Part of this recognition includes Veteran Pinning Ceremonies for our Veteran hospice clients. At these ceremonies, Veteran Volunteers recognize and thank our Veteran clients for their service to their country. These touching ceremonies are just one small way that Good Shepherd Homecare & Hospice is committed to saying “thank you” to our Veterans.

If you are interested in learning more about We Honor Veterans, or becoming a Vet-to-Vet Volunteer please contact Amy Bowers, Chaplain & Volunteer Coordinator at 785-537-0688.

We also have a number of unique volunteer services that we can offer our clients and families, each of these services are offered thanks to the specific talents and expertise our volunteers bring to the Good Shepherd Homecare & Hospice team. Some of those additional services include massage therapy, music therapy and the creation of one of a kind memory bears.

Interested in Volunteering? We are always accepting new volunteers at Homecare & Hospice, so you can contact us to sign up or for more information at any time. Just call the Homecare & Hospice office at 785-537-0688 and ask for Kelly Pittman, Chaplain & Volunteer Coordinator to get started.
